About

The Piedmont-Okefenokee Baptist Association is composed of 62 Southern Baptist churches that are located in six counties of Southeast Georgia. These counties are Bacon, Brantley, Camden, Charlton, Pierce, and Ware.

The PIEDMONT Association was organized at Little Canoochee in 1815. The OKEFENOKEE Association was organized in Blackshear in 1936.

On October 17, 1969 the two associations combined to form the PIEDMONT OKEFENOKEE Baptist Association which was organized at Hacklebarney Baptist Church in Blackshear.

As an association of churches we are bound together by our love for Christ and a deep desire to see His Gospel of Good News spread to the ends of the earth. We have adopted the The Baptist Faith and Message, 2000 as a unifying statement of our common beliefs. We have been led though prayer and a seeking of God’s direction to develop a mission statement to further give us clarity of direction and purpose.

Our staff is deeply committed to the reality that “the association consists of the churches working in association with each other.” We are committed to doing whatever it takes biblically to provide the tools needed to be effective in sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ both in their environment at home and abroad.
